Agustín Fernandez Manrique was born in Las Palmas, Spain. He has been a chess enthusiast from an early age. He participated in many domestic and international tournaments. He is a member of the Spanish team for the blind and visually impaired and has participated in many European championships and Olympics. With the national team, he won two third places in the team and individually at the world championships and Olympics held in Spain and India in 2012 and 2013.
For the last 30 years, he has been working at a chess club in Tenerife as a coach, and he works with different age groups. He worked with WIM Maria Stojanovic-Gagunashvili as a second when she won the WIM title at the Olympics in 2014. As a coach, he participated in chess camps held in Serbia in 2005 and 2006.
He has been a FIDE Instructor since 2016. He teaches classes in Spanish.
